"You have very truly remarked that if we are to reach real peace
in this world, we shall have to begin with children."

Intermediate Division Curriculum

The Intermediate Division at St. Mary’s is the final three years of elementary school. During these years, we strive to create a delicate and gradual bridge between the elementary and middle school programs. As our students transition from 2nd to 3rd grade, we work to expand on skills taught while creating ways to stretch them both creatively and socially. As they enter 4th grade, our teachers guide them further toward independent thinking and action. Upon entering 5th grade, they are given increased opportunities to show responsibility both in their own classrooms and as school safety patrols. Through ongoing opportunities presented both in and outside of the classroom, Intermediate Division students experience gradually increasing challenges to help them develop their character, learn responsibility, and improve their organizational skills. We ultimately strive to have them ready to manage a middle school schedule and curriculum as confident, independent people.
