St. Mary's Special Grade Level Activities
5th Grade
Dayspring
The Dayspring outing is designed to help the class work together. At this camp
and conference center in Ellenton, students are
involved in problem solving challenges on an initiative course, and in group
activities. Students find new
talents in themselves and others, and class unity is strengthened. The
overnight trip has become a favorite of all St. Mary's students. (see photos)
Epcot and Blizzard Beach
This spring trip is tied to the geography curriculum. Students work in groups
competing in a scavenger hunt while traveling through the World Showcase. On day
two, the class has fun in the sun at Blizzard Beach. The outing also serves as a
reward for the hard work of fifth grade students during the year they serve as
school patrols. With duties ranging from assisting at car pool and office messenger, to
aiding teachers with morning work and organizing in lower grades, the patrols
deserve this end of the year treat. (see photos)

curriculum. Included in this adventure are a trip down the Withlacoochee on an
airboat, with guides to introduce wildlife and eco-systems of the river. An
evening of fun at Celebration Station rounds out the tour. (see photos)
