8th Graders Celebrate Graduation

St. Mary's Class of 2005 graduated May 27th during formal commencement exercises held in St. Mary's Church. Forty-two seniors received diplomas and special awards during the ceremony. Many of these outstanding graduates have been at St. Mary's for the past ten years and will be missed as they continue their educations at a variety of bay area high schools. The end of the school year was highlighted by well deserved surprise trips for these hard working students, including the one pictured here. Congratulations to the Class of 2005!

 

Wedding of Mr. Q and Miss U

In a simple civil ceremony performed May 13th, 2005, on St. Mary's campus, Mr. Q wed Miss U with all of Pre-Kindergarten and other honored guests in attendance. Q and U, long time companions, were rarely ever seen without one another. The bride and groom, resplendent in formal wedding apparel, were attended by the Pre-K students, similarly attired. A lovely cake, custom-designed by Mrs. Savage, graced the reception table. When asked about honeymoon plans, the couple just smiled.

 

Eighth Grade Visits Washington D.C.

The 8th grade had a fabulous time on their recent trip to Washington. The following quote from Middle School Head Mr. Edwards says it all. "We had a wonderful trip to Washington D.C. This year truly was the best yet. These students continue to astound us with their outstanding, caring behavior. Countless times we were approached as chaperones and complimented by complete strangers on the behavior and demeanor of our students. It really was a pleasure to be part of the group!"

7th Grade Trip to Big Pine Key

Seventh Graders returned on April 27th from a four day adventure to Sea Camp on Big Pine Key. This trip, which compliments their science studies, allows first hand observation and exploration of the ocean life they have been studying in the classroom. It is always eagerly anticipated, and the students and chaperones came home tired but happy!
 

 

SMEDS John A. Shepard Field Day

St. Mary's Saints enjoyed the annual "John A Shepard Field Day" on April 21st, 2005. Many new activities were added to this year's event, including an inflatable obstacle course! After a three year dry spell, Gold Team took the cup. Congratulations to all the athletes who gave their best, and thank you to Coach Sandman and his team for making this the best Field Day ever. Go Saints!
 

"In God We Trust"

On April 19th, 2005, Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades combined to form the cast for "In God We Trust", a musical program about the motto on our country's currency. This outstanding production came complete with video of students acting as news anchors and activists intertwined with the live performance. Under the direction of Lori Jungers, every actor, singer, and dancer performed to perfection. Thanks to everyone involved in presenting this patriotic and inspirational gift to our school community.

 

Cafe Santa Maria


Saturday, April 9th, 2005, St. Mary's faculty catered their annual dinner for guests who purchased "Cafe Santa Maria" at the benefit auction. It was a lovely evening complete with entertainment, and as usual, the faculty prepared a delicious meal . Thank you to all who contributed to this gala event!

6th Grade Renaissance Fair Field Trip

April 8th and 9th, sixth grade journeyed back in time at the Bay Area Renaissance Fair. The overnight field trip related to their Social Studies and Science curriculum. Included in this adventure were a trip down the Withlacoochee on an airboat, with guides to introduce wildlife and eco-systems of the river. An evening of fun at Celebration Station rounded out the tour.

 

Seventh Grade Variety Show

On March 22nd, 2005, St. Mary's seventh graders presented a fabulous look back at music through the decades. It was polished entertainment as music director Lori Jungers always draws the best out of each student performer. Congratulations, 7th grade, on a wonderful show, all your hard work paid off! Special thanks to the parents who helped with costumes, make up, and moral support, and to teacher volunteers Meg Carte, Katie Rief, and Devora Visin.

 

Raffle Table Volunteer

Art in the Park

St. Mary's hosted the annual benefit on Saturday, March 5th, 2005. This year's theme was "Art in the Park" and patrons were treated to a lovely evening of dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions. The hard working Parent's Association managed to create a beautiful setting for the event under a tent located on our own soccer field. The evening was a tremendous success!
